Our Mission

Since our founding in 1988, the North East Quadrant Advanced Life Support Inc. has responded to thousands upon thousands of calls for assistance in the towns of Webster, Penfield, and Ontario, as well as neighboring towns throughout Monroe and Wayne counties. What started as a small group of dedicated volunteers and a single response vehicle has blossomed to an agency today that provides emergency care around the clock in multiple ways to serve the ever increasing population in the community in which we serve.

We take our business seriously, and to do so requires continual investment in not only our response vehicles and medical equipment, but most importantly, our people. It is these emergency medical technicians and paramedics that respond to you in your most difficult times, providing quality pre-hospital care as part of a team of medical professionals to care for you from your doorstep to the hospital emergency room. We are proud of what we do, and we are dedicated to serving you and our entire community.

Letter to the Community

Since joining NEQALS in 1988, I've had many roles including medic, Assistant Chief, Chief, Board of Director member and since 2001, President and Board Chairman. During this time I have had the pleasure of working with many dedicated professionals, both volunteer and paid, from many different agencies. I'd like to mention each one here, but that task would be monumental to say the least. I would however be remiss if I didn't at least recognize those first advanced life support medics that, as Xerox employees by day and EMS professionals by night, were instrumental in bringing NEQALS to life and being the true backbone of it during those early days. They are Bob Karnisky, Gene Faucz, Gino Tomasino, and Jim Lannom. Without them, this agency may not have come into existence.

Since 1988, NEQALS has evolved from an entirely volunteer member based organization to a business that employs over 40 people. This evolution has been driven not by any aspirations of any one individual, but instead collectively as a group working along with town governments and other first responders to meet the needs of the ever growing population in the area in which we serve. We also know that this evolution never stops, that there will always be new needs and challenges in our community. We at NEQALS will continue to work diligently to meet those needs and challenges and to ultimately continue to provide outstanding pre-hospital emergency medical care. Speaking for the entire NEQALS organization, you have our promise on that.

Sincerely yours,

Robert Meddaugh
President, and Chairman of the Board
